Marlborough Heritage Festival

October 5, 2008

Thanks to everyone who spent time with Green Marlborough at the Heritage Festival this year!

Marlborough's Main Street was filled with folks enjoying the day, many hoping for a cup of clam chowder! Green Marlborough had info about energy efficiency, water conservation, where to buy local food and .....
Amy had an amazing Alt-E solar display that was really popular   And Aidan's terrific stormwater drain display was a big hit, too.
Mike came to say hi and help us talk about energy efficiency. Rich also came to pitch in on another one of our wonderful community events and enjoyed talking with folks.

Aidan educated about 50 people about stormwater drains!. Jen couldn't stop talking about energy efficiency & water conservation as usual!

The solar oven was a real hit! There was just enough sun on this cloudy day to make s'mores in the solar oven.  A real treat!

Mike's beautiful Honda runs on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).  It is the alternative fuel car of the future! Eric's old Mercedes runs on veggie oil.  It was popular and people asked him questions all day about how he retrofited it.
Baha and Eric look under the hood of Eric's car.  Retrofitting the car was a fun project for Eric and his son a couple years ago. Eric gets French fry oil from restaurants.  He strains it into the orange bucket and then uses the fuel to run his car.  The veggie oil is free and his car gets 30mpg.  Way to go, Eric!

It was a terrific day for us and lots of folks in Marlborough. Thousands of people enjoyed the Heritage Festival.
