Marlborough Earth Day Fair - May 2, 2009


Thanks to everyone who supported the second Annual Earth Day Fair from near and far!

Preparing at Marlborough's Ghiloni Park for the Marlborough Earth Day Fair. The weather was wonderful!.
There was plenty to see and do. Kids and parents came after soccer games  and found all kinds of things going on
Amy showed her solar hot water display Mary was painting faces. Girl scouts had a statue from recycled materials!
Barbara had Community Preservation info. Baha handed out Stop-Junk-Mail kits. There were many exhibits and experts.
The three greenest cars in the US on display were the new Honda Insight, a Prius, and... a CNG Honda that runs on natural gas Bob was on bike patrol and stopped by.
Leslie and her two children had info on Safe Routes to School & the walking school bus. Growing Place garden projects was there. Marlborough's senator and city councilor say hi.
Staples Eco Easy product line was a hit. People crowded around to learn about green home and office products. There was a lot to smile about..
Visitors could learn a lot from exhibits  ECC Environmental is in Marlborough Perfectly Natural is an eco store in Sudbury
Carlos from Blue Skies Studio created artistic masterpieces from found objects.  People marked routes for walking and biking trails on a Marlborough map. MassRecycle.org had a recycling display
Music was in the air, too. Freeana and Rosen were lyrical. The Weekend Band rocked.
Wes and Joe made music for Marlborough while people checked out exhibits and experts The DPW provided water-saving kits, recycling bins, and composting bins  Two children's bikes were raffled for free 
The Stream Team info was there to see. Local farms with fresh produce were listed.  A Mass. dairy farm was also represented.
Rohm and Haas representatives brought their environmental sustainability report. French Hill Neighborh'd Association came
GoLoCo flags made the fair festive. Several families came to the fair. Martin takes a moment to say "Hi"!
A recycling site was set up. Residents brought carloads of electronics  ...that were loaded into a recycling truck.
More than ten lawn mowers were brought... and eco friendly lawn mowers were bought. The new Allied Waste truck was displayed.
And the Allied Waste crew educated people All in all it was a good day. Even a hawk came to see the fair!
