Buying Green

Buy local, organic products!  Buying cheese from France and water from Fiji may be chic, but the high energy costs for transportation will surprise you.  Transporting products accounts for 20% of our greenhouse gases.  When you shop, read the label.  How close to home was it made?

Fresh, locally grown food is simply the best! Find the farm nearest you and enjoy its produce.

If you buy paper, try recycled paper.  The good quality will surprise you.  Purchasing recycled paper saves precious trees that filter air and water, and protect land.  One tree stores a ton of carbon in its lifetime!

Buy local first!   Buying from local merchants not only benefits our community economically, but also builds a sense of community.   Looking for a nearby shop to find environmentally-responsible products?

Most stores have green choices these days.  If you don't see it, ask for it!
